The heather areas are interveined by the Omme Å river valley, plantations and self-sown willows and pines. The latter cause damage to the heather and are therefore frequently cut back. Fire roads have been established across the area to prevent fires from spreading. There is a lot to see for botanists, since the area is home to numerous rare plants. The animal life is also worth mentioning – rare bird species like European golden plover, great grey shrike, Eurasian bittern and hen harrier breed here.
